2019 PUBG Branch Battle Finals

POSTED BY Daniel Drake April 10, 2019

Hey you, Soldier! Marine! Sailor! Airman! Coastie! Are you currently serving? Are you a veteran? Do you play video games in your downtime…or during the duty day? (we won’t tell)

Or are you a civilian that supports and loves you some U.S. military members? If you answered yes to any of these questions, Military Gaming League wants YOU to join us on Saturday, April 27th at our first official PUBG Branch Battle, right here in Las Vegas, Nevada at the HyperX Esports Arena.  “What the heck is a Branch Battle, and who the heck is Military Gaming League?” you might ask. Well, put on your PPE and tell your sergeant you’re going on a “smoke break” because you’re about to get death by PowerPoint…just kidding, we’re way cooler than that.

Military Gaming League (MGL) is the only esports league that is exclusively built for U.S. servicemembers and veterans. A Branch Battle is our signature tournament series where we pit all of the combat arms military branches against each other to see who shoots, drives, crawls, sails, or flies their way to the top and proves to be the best branch.

Our PUBG Branch Battle is a battle royale like no other. We’ve taken the top 5 duo teams from the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy, put them all on their respective military branch teams, and are dropping them in the middle of Erangel and Mirimar just to see who the last uniform standing is. But as if seeing the branches dog on each other in-game (and out) isn’t enough for you, we’ve partnered with the LVL UP Expo, one of the biggest Anime, Comics and Gaming conventions in Vegas, from April 26-28th so that your ticket not only gives you access to one of the most epic military esports shows in history, but also all the fun-filled excitement an expo like LVL Up has to offer.

It doesn’t stop there, we’re bringing some incredibly amazing PUBG personalitiesto host a panel at LVL UP Expo as well as to captain a branch team of their own in a 1 game show match, right before the Branch Battle!

Let us introduce you:

Funker – Army Team Captain

  • Funker is a Canadian infantry veteran and founder of the popular Funker530 veteran community sites (one of the largest worldwide military networks in existence). Funker’s mission is to give veterans and active duty members a place to connect with others who have shared similar life experiences and ensure that no veteran is left in the dark feeling alone after their service. When Funker isn’t streaming PUBG and other FPS games, he’s spending time with his wife and son, hunting, or fishing.
  • While Funker may not be American, he speaks grunt and knows what it takes to get in the trenches and get the job done, and that job is winning the Branch Battle showmatch!

KatContii – Air Force Team Captain

  • KatContii was born in California and raised in Las Vegas. She competed in the Twitch Broadcaster Royale Season 2 last year where she made it into the finals and actively creates content for Rogue, a professional esports team. Kat has been streaming on Twitch for 4 years. She’s known as an intelligent and direct gamer caring as much about the more complex mathematical aspects of a game, as the game mechanics themselves.
  • Watch out, she bites, and she plans to pilot the Air Force to a soaring 1st place!

She is a host and shout caster having worked on several video game titles such as PUBG, Rainbow Six, Guns of Boom, Fortnite and Gears of War alongside companies such as ESL, ESP Gaming, Twitch and NGE. On her downtime, you can catch Lisa live streaming Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds on Twitch under the alias “iAmLucyMae” where there is no shortage of chicken and high octane fun.
  • She may not sail the high seas, but she has every intention of scuttling the competition in true LucyMae style!

Miccoy – Marines Team Captain

  • Kevin “Miccoy” Linn is entering his 2nd year with Ghost PUBG, not only attending more LAN events in his first year with Ghost, but he is also currently the #1 earning NA player since PUBG esports began. Miccoy has been a leader since day one with consistent LAN performances in the top of the Kill and damage leaderboards. Staying away from sniper rifles, Miccoy’s AR skills have developed into some of the best in the entire PUBG scene. Miccoy is consistently able to realize a negative situation and snake his way into top 5 placements to earn much-needed points for Ghost.
  • He may be young, but he knows how to don the war paint and bring the Marines at his back to victory!

Edakulous is also the longest signed pro player for PUBG to this day, and as one of the oldest in the scene, he brings many years of experience over the younger generation of players. He is a very adaptable player, having a strength for nearly any situation, whether it be CQC or long-distance sniping. In his off time from practice and real life, he streams and kicks it with the boys.
  • He’s not only an OG of the pro-PUBG scene, but he’s also been gaming since most of his competition was in diapers and he’s about to take the Coast Guard from running rescue missions to victory laps!
